This nature center is such a cute little hidden gem and it's just a quick drive up the road from us. It's got a ton of live animals, interactive games and educational materials in the building as well as full bathrooms with changing tables. There are taxidermy displays of a ton of animals, a small fort structure and a reading nook built to look like a tree. They do a ton of fun classes for adults and kids and all of the staff members I have met so far are not only super friendly but will also go out of their way to help answer questions or to make the experience even more fun for the kids. Last time we got to see them feed one of the snakes and the box turtles! The trails are beautiful and well maintained and they also have a very nice playground with a gazebo for parties and picnics, also with attached bathrooms. We saw deer and a Ringneck Snake on our last trip on the trails and they offer a nature scavenger hunt for kids and if you find all the items they can pick a toy or spider ring from the office treasure box. So fun and the my daughter and niece love to go there.
Very nice nature center. Small size but tons of interesting exhibitions and live animal display. As soon as you enter the front door, you will be greeted with insect, reptile, small mammals and plant specimen collections .You could also have birthday parties here. What’s even better there’s a nature play area outside, and a playground nearby.
Love this place! Well kept and very informative. They also have a really cool chainsaw carving of animals near the visitor center. Very kid friendly park.
It is a smaller park, but it is very well kept and they have info about things (species, animal footprints) along the trails. I'm not sure if I went on slow day or what, but I was the only one in the park and it was very relaxing.
Beautiful and inventive park. So many great displays and educational areas. Birthday party while I visited, and the kids were having a wonderful, chaotic time. Trails very well marked with informational signs. Followed it all the way to the bottom, though and found trail bridge out so had to reverse my route. Great steps in that trail.
A hidden treasure in a bustling neighborhood near interstate 495. The nature setting is beautiful and enchanting. It is very interesting and satisfying for a simple journey in the woods
Great playground! Looks new! It is in full sun, so I’d recommend going early. We did the treasure hunt, which was more like a scavenger hunt with no treasure at the end. This was a little disappointing for my little ones who were looking forward to a treasure map and a treasure (which for the price and from the description, I also expected). However, they soon for got and enjoyed their private tour through the woods, looking for bugs and other animals. At end they also got to pet a box turtle so they were happy. Our guide was very knowledgeable.
Reptiles live here!
Miniature Zoo like place.
Really cute outdoor gardens with various activity and learning programs for kids in weekends available! Book ahead!
Came here on mother's dayfor a quiet family walk with a 2-year old. Even though the nature center was closed there was plenty for us to do. The trails were well marked and well-maintained.
It definitely was not very crowded and there is a lot of variety in the terrain. Some of the paths are paved, some are dirt, others have planks. We were able to walk down to the stream. Especially enjoyed the fun facts that were peppered throughout the and looking at the animal tracks along the way.
We spent about an hour at the park and look forward to coming back with everything is open again.
